Chung Yeung Festival

Today, that’s why it’s holiday here in Hong Kong… :)

What about this?

Well, honestly we stayed here for quite some time but I didn’t know what this festive all about, hehe… So this morning I took few minutes to check on the net what’s the usual practice during this time.

Base on my reading, Chung Yeung Festival is a day to respect and remember ancestor also known as Autumn Remembrance. Families journey to the graves of their ancestors to perform cleansing rites and pay their respects. (I think I can interpret this as “All souls day” for Filipinos, hehe). This festival is observe on the ninth day of the ninth month of the Chinese calendar, hence they called this also Double ninth festival. And this considered as traditional Chinese holiday.
