Commentluv plugin
October 4, 2007
I love comments. When I open my blog and see I have some comments on my post, then that makes me smile…
Now, speaking of this I stumbled a CommentLuv WordPress Plugin, which is another way to promote comments from readers.
How it works? The plugin will visit the site of the commenter, which inputted on the URL field and scrapes the last post they made and display at the bottom of their comment. Cool!
I’ll give this a try and see how it goes

hi, thanks for giving my plugin a try, just to let you know that it sometimes doesn’t grab someones last post if it takes longer than 2 seconds for their feed to load because of wordpress’s short timeout on it’s internal feed functions.
I am working on an update that will have it’s own options page on the wordpress admin to adjust the timeout and a way to change the message that is displayed, I hope you get a chance to use it again when it’s updated
thanks!

Hi Caryl,
you might want to add this line to your config.php in your wordpress folder to add a bit more time for the script to parse someones feed because your server seems a little unresponsive for running scripts.
define(’MAGPIE_FETCH_TIME_OUT’, 7);
hopefully, that should sort out any comments not having their last post showing for you (you can change 7 to a lower number if it seems to take too long)
thanks for using commentluv!

This plugin is not just great - its awesome especially when combined with a few others to really push the limits and extend your blog commenting system into the real never even intended by its creators

This is a great idea. I wish my blogspot could have it. All blogs should have this plugin.
Another great one is so commentors can edit their comments for a few minutes after pressing the submit button - good for fixing spelling errors.

It’s good that you smile, as it changes your whole look. Not enough people smile these days. I have just installed the plugin and I think I may actually keep it.

I tried to use CommentLuv, but for some reason it doesn’t seem to work, it doesn’t display the links to the last blog post, even when I tested with blogs I knew for a fact had a valid feed. Anyone came across this bug before? Also, the plugin author’s site gives a database error message. Oh well…
