Our pride and joy

Date July 5, 2008

We’re one happy parents when the teacher told us that Miguel has an award in school. And much more for my happiness when she (the teacher) mentioned that the little boy was academically good… my heart was really jumping in joy. Call it OA or what but I felt so happy and proud mommy at that very moment. That was 2 weeks ago during the PTA (teacher talked one on one with parents, give the assessment report and showed the kids’ seatwork in school). Then we have this big smile when we saw his assessment report… :D sooooo goody! Lots of A’s… ;)

Then last week was the awarding ceremony. It was our first time to attend such event as parents and witness awarding for our own child. Unlike in Philippines, usually graduation is being done separately from recognition, right? In Migs’ school here, they do it all together but for Kindergarten section alone. So if you have seen already photos on my flickr, there were graduating students in red toga. MiguelThen on awarding part, they give the award, which is a certificate put in frame already starting from pre-nursery up to the graduating kids. What I like on their ceremony was the straight-forward program. Intermission was part II of the ceremony. So you have the option to leave after awarding if you don’t want to watch the intermission numbers… but well it’s not that long anyway… All in all (part 1 and2) was about 2 hours. Another observation was that only the awardees go to stage. No parents ;) … and no taking photos in front. They have their own photographer. So if you see our pictures, they’re all zoomed in. We do have copies though from school, which they will give us later. In other words, parents were mere audience, hehehe… but there’s a part where the kids sang facing the parents. And my fave was the last part of the program where they have a slide presentation of all the activities and things done by the kids in school. The presentation was so good and while it was shown, graduating kids were singing “happy memories” It was the touching part and I saw some parents have teary eyes…

If you haven’t seen yet, you can view some photos at my flickr.
Thanks for looking!
