The habit of reading books is one of the things that we want our son to adopt. That’s why we frequently buy him books and tell him to read everyday. When we are forming a reading habit for him, we gave him a reward once he finishes a lot of books in one day. And yes that works for him. Not only he’s having fun reading series of books, he learned the art of saving and hardworking too. I believe the key in successful reading habit is making it fun for kids and not an obligation to do.

Today I was able to read an article from babycenter.com some fun activities for advanced readers. Depending on the child, there are different styles on how they could adopt and set the reading habit. The article was divided it into 3 categories: Auditory learners, phycial learners and the visual leaners. Here are the suggested fun activity for each category:

Auditory Learners.
~ Go to story time at the library or a bookstore. My son already experience listening from a trained storyteller and he loves it.
~ Find a reading phone pal
~ Listen to books on tape or CD or latest technology we have, Lecteurs MP3
~ Read a recipe and cook the dish together. My son and I have done this before.
~ Join a summer book club at the library

Physical learners.
~ Make a family newspaper
~ Discover words to grow on.
~ make your own bookmarks
~Write a letter to a favorite author
~ Throw a book-related party

Visual learners
~ read a story that’s out as a movie
~ Make a photo scrapbook
~ Imagine what happens next. Base on experience, this is such a fun activity. The imagination of a child really is magical, LOL!
~ Visit your child’s favorite author’s website
~ Let him read comic books…. Love this idea but beware your kid might stay late just to finish the comic book, haha. That happened to us!
~ Set a family reading time
~ Follow along with a book project

The book that gives me more knowledge on financial aspect. I’m glad that I spent time reading this book last month.

One of the important things I learned from this book is to build our asset while we have the means or money to buy. And according to Robert Kiyosaki buy assets that will put money to your pocket. A good example is buying stocks or bonds. In the long run these assets will earn money thus generating cash flow. Another sample is gold or silver precious metal. If you have cash for gold investment, it is perfect to include this as part of your asset. We know gold has a great value and accepted worldwide.

Right now I’m trying to look for ways to earn passive income. One is to venture on real estate that I believe has a great chance for a nice investment that eventually will generate cash flow. By adding more assets, we can assure of financial freedom later on and have a happy retirement years.
